1000 Places to See Before You Die Book Review and Giveaway

1000 Places To See

1,000 Places to See Before You Die, the second edition: Completely Revised and Updated with Over 200 New Entries

By Patricia Schultz

Patricia Shultz’s bestselling 1,000 Places to See Before You Die has recently been re-released in the form of a new full-color edition. The book is more than just a simple travel guide. Each entry describes why the place is significant, and includes information that you would need for planning a visit, like websites and phone numbers.  This edition includes additional pages covering 28 new countries, and many pictures.

I thought this book was a lot of fun to look through!  There are so many fascinating places I have never been.  Some of the places the books lists are ones anyone would think of visiting, like Paris or the French Quarter in New Orleans.  But I like that the book also includes many less well known places, like the “Wooden City” of Bergen Norway.  Here is a video showing one place I would love to see, Egypt.

We planned our summer vacation last week, and this book was useful for looking up places and bouncing ideas off each other.  We can’t afford Egypt, Norway or Paris, but we are heading to Boston and the Maine coast, both of which are covered in the book.  I am sure I will not get to all 1000 places in my lifetime, but I am trying for 100!

You can connect with the author on twitter, @1000Places or Facebook to learn more about the book.  This book would make a fabulous Father’s Day present, and I have 3 copies to giveaway to my readers, just enter in the rafflecopter form below.

The giveaway has ended, and the winners are Tina R., Jemima P., and Selinda M.

Disclosure: I was provided a review sample. Opinions are my own. This giveaway is part of Fashionista Events, coordinated by The Chief Blonde of Still Blonde After All These Years and Katy Rose of ModlyChic.

We love to travel. Number one on my big Someday List is Scotland/Ireland. It just calls to my soul. We are heading to the Cape Cod and Maine Coast in 3 weeks. We have visited the area often and always enjoy going back. It has been about 35 years since we went to Cape Cod. Last time we had a 2 and 3 year old.

Oh goodness…that’s a hard question…the list is so long! I think I would have to rank southeastern Asia high on the list…Thailand or Vietnam!

When my husband was in the Marines he went to Greece and I have been dying to go ever since. He said it was the most beautiful place he has ever seen. Maybe there are 999 others that might be even more beautiful?
