Nothing is more annoying than when a garment becomes pilled. It looks worn and old, and on some fabrics it happens very quickly. Sometimes it seems like the more expensive a garment is the quicker it collects pills. I seem to have more trouble with my cashmere sweaters than any other sweaters I own! I recently learned about a new solution for removing fuzz from all types of fabrics and garments. Gleener is a tool that can be used to renew and refresh everything from your favorite sweater to the cushion on a sofa – anywhere that pills proliferate.
Gleener consists of an ergonomic handle, with three easily detachable blades that can be used on different types of fabric. This means you customize the tool for the fabric that you are using it on. The tools also has an attached lint brush, which is perfect for removing the dog hair that always attaches itself to my clothes.
To test out the Gleener tool I used one of my favorite sweaters, a beige cashmere turtleneck that has way too many pills. Even though this is one of my favorite sweaters I haven’t worn it in a while, because of all the pills. Here are the before and after pictures:
It worked very well, and it took only about two minutes to do the entire sweater. To use the tool you lay the item flat, and hold the fabric tight with one hand. With your other hand you gently stroke to remove offending pills. When I finished the sweater the tool was covered in fuzzy pills.
This would make a great gift for almost any adult, since pills are something that seem to show up everywhere. In fact I would say the only downside to the tool is that now I am noticing pills more, and the list of things I need to use the Gleener on is constantly growing, and now includes our family room sofa, lots of sweaters and some drapes.
The tool is available on the Gleener website, and they have also offered to give away one to a lucky reader!
