This year Chex Mix is suggesting you put a whole new twist on the classic cookie exchange. Cookies are great, and Christmas cookies are some of my favorite, but sometimes it seems like there are just too many cookies. It is hard to eat well and have a variety of food when you see Christmas cookies everywhere. This year Chex Mix is suggesting having a Chex Mix party instead, and exchanging Chex Mix instead of cookies.
One of the great things about this is that it is so quick and easy to prepare Chex Mix. Most recipes can be made in about 15 minutes using only a microwave – there are not hours of baking and mixing. The concept is simple – invite some friends over for a party and ask everyone to make enough of their favorite Chex Party Mix recipe to exchange with party guests. Taste, mix, swap, and share the recipes, putting the treats in easy DIY packages for everyone to take home.
I made Chex Mix to share with my friends and family. We made the Original Chex Party Mix, Chex PB & Chocolate Blast, Hot and Spicy Chex Party Mix and Chocolate Chex Carmel Corn Bars to share. All were very quick to make, and even the bars didn’t require any baking. Unfortunately my Mom accidentally deleted all my pictures, so you will have to take my word for how good it all looked! The red Chinese takeout containers for taking the leftovers home were very cute, and everyone liked them. Of course the children liked the mixes that included candy the best, no big surprise there! I probably wouldn’t make the Hot and Spicy Mix again, since that was the least popular. All in all it was fun to do something different and have a Chex Mix party.
