The Big Book of Babycakes Cupcake Maker Recipes: Homemade Bite-Sized Fun!
By Kathy Moore and Roxanne Wyss
I received a Babycakes Cupcake Maker for my birthday in the spring and I love it! It is handy for making quick muffins and cupcakes. So I was glad to get the chance to review this new cookbook from Kathy Moore & Roxanne Wyss, filled with recipes designed specifically for the cupcake maker. I had been just altering recipes I already had, and it is much more convenient not to have to think about it and just follow the recipe.
One of the things I like about this book is the wide variety of recipes included. It doesn’t just contain muffin and cupcake recipes, but also pies, quiche, appetizers, and dinner foods. I can’t wait to try some of the less sweet recipes in the book, like the Pizza Pot Pies and the Tex-Mex Potato Cakes. Especially since I am trying to cut back on sugary foods I am glad to find recipes that are not just for sweet treats.
My 16 year old daughter Eleanor, on the other hand, is all about the sweets. She found the book and put sticky notes all over the recipes she is planning to make, including Rootbeer Float Cupcakes, Key Lime Mini-Pies and Carmel Brownies. She informed me she is going to be making dessert from the book once a week, and even gave me a shopping list of the ingredients she needed! Her first effort was the Lemon Drop Cupcakes, which are featured on the cover of the book. Eleanor’s didn’t turn out quite as fancy as the ones in the book, but she was happy with them, especially since they feature glaze, icing and candy on top.
The book has detailed instructions including step by step photographs of things like testing the cupcakes and piping on frosting swirls. Eleanor is not much of a cook, and she had no problem following all the directions successfully. I am glad to see that she is finally learning to do more than boil water and make pre-packaged food!
All in all this is a great cookbook for anyone who has a cupcake maker, because it expands the number of things you can make. I am sure it will inspire me to use my Babycakes Cupcake Maker more often, and try new recipes.
Disclosure: I received a copy to review, all opinions are my own.
Rootbeer Float cupcakes? That’s reason enough to get the book!
I have this book and love it! I don’t have the cupcake maker – I just adjust baking times to my oven 🙂
I’ve been wanting one of those forever- whenever I finally get one I’ll definitely be checking out the book too!
Sounds like a fun gizmo…and anything that involves cupcakes, I’m in! 🙂

thanks for the review – we just bought a Babymakes cake pop maker and I bet some of the recipes would work well in that too!
It looks like you did a great job. I’m a terrible baker. Maybe something like this would help!
