This is such a busy time of year! Things seem to move so fast, and you always need to be ready for the unexpected. I like to have family sized and party sized frozen entrees on hand, so I am ready for anything. Whether it is unexpected guests or snowstorms that derail our dinner plans I want to appear calm and well prepared, not disorganized and frazzled.
The great thing about having frozen entrees on hand is that it is easy to dress them up for company. I just stick the pizza on a wooden cutting board, put the macaroni and cheese in a fancy bowl and cut the lasagna onto a decorative serving plate. It looks polished, but really took very little effort from me!
To stock up for the Holiday season I headed to Walmart to get some go to meals. My daughter immediately grabbed some Stouffer’s Macaroni and Cheese, which is her favorite all time food. To go along with it I picked up some Lasagna with Meat Sauce and Pepperoni Pizza.
When I do end up with unexpected guests it is more often than not some of my teens’ friends. They will stop by and still be here hours later, and let me tell you teens can eat! Pizza, lasagna and macaroni and cheese are always good to have on hand for hungry teens.
Of course dessert is good to have on hand too! Ice cream is quick and easy, and letting everyone add their own toppings makes it even better. This time of year there are fun seasonal flavors, like Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream Limited Edition: A Very Merry Eggnog and Peppermint Wonderland.
We have had lots and lots of snow over the past week, and have had to cancel plans due to the weather. This has been disappointing and resulted in us having to stay in when we didn’t really want to. These are the perfect evenings for a Make Your Own Sundae bar, to cheer everyone up and create a little bit of fun of our own despite the weather.
My store was out of the Limited Edition Holiday flavors, but we got in the Holiday spirit anyway by crushing up some candy canes to add to vanilla ice cream and make our own peppermint sundaes. We had chocolate chips, whipped cream, sprinkles, nuts and caramel sauce, so the entire family was able to enjoy their own favorite seasonal favorites.
