Delivery Man Review #DeliveryManEvent

Delivery Man opens in theaters everywhere today!  This movies starring Vince Vaughn is a charming comedy that has quite a bit of heartwarming drama mixed in!

Vaughn stars as David Wozniak, a nice guy who is not very successful in life.  He drives a delivery truck for his family’s butcher shop, and he doesn’t even do a very good job at that. He owes money to shady characters, his family is annoyed at his irresponsibility, and his girl friend is pregnant and thinks he will make a lousy father. Then to make matters worse he finds out that his sperm bank donations from years ago resulted in 533 children, 142 of who have filed a lawsuit to find out his identity.

The premise is pretty outrageous, but instead of descending into slapstick it becomes a heart warming story about fatherhood and family, as Wozniak is forced to decide what he wants to do with his life and grow up.

Cobie Smulders plays his long suffering girl friend, and Chris Pratt is hilarious as his best friend, who is an overwhelmed father and not very talented lawyer.  There is also an entire story line about Wozniak’s family, which is quite touching.  The contrast between the traditional Polish family Wozniak grew up in and the completely unorthodox family he ends up with adds to the story.

It is great to see Vince Vaughn in a role which showcases his acting ability in addition to his comedic skill.  All in all this is a great movie about what it means to be a family, which makes it perfect for the Thanksgiving season!
