Frankenweenie Trailer

The trailer for the movie Frankenweenie was just released, and it looks like a fun movie.

It is directed by Tim Burton, who is one of my all-time favorite directors.  The story follows a young boy, Victor, who conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.  Interestingly it is shot in black and white, maybe the Oscar winning The Artist is starting a new trend toward black and white films!

I was planning to have my teens read some classic horror novels next year for school work, since they are big fans of paranormal YA books.  So it seems like reading Frankenstein, Dracula and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde would fit with their interests and challenge them a little more than Twilight.  So I will have to make sure we start out the school year with Frankenstein, and finish it before the October 5th release date of this movie.  This kind of movie is always more fun if you are familiar with the source material.
