Two bowls of sangria ice with blackberries.

The recipe is created by making a simple sangria, a traditional Spanish combination of fruit and wine.  After the fruit infuse the wine with their juices the mixture is frozen for a delicious summer dessert.

A bowl of blackberry ice cream with a hint of sangria flavor.

I made a red wine sangria using Cabernet Sauvingnon with a frozen bag of mixed blackberries, blueberries and raspberries, along with an orange.

A bowl of fruit in a bowl with ice and sangria.

I let the fruit sit in the wine in the refrigerator overnight, and then pressed them through a seize to get lots of fruity flavor in the Sangria Ice. The resulting frozen dessert had a a subtle taste of wine along with a hint of orange and berries.

It takes a little while to make, since you have to let the flavors mingle, but the time is mostly hands off, waiting, and the result it worth the wait.
