I am always looking for ways to make dinner easy, but still delicious and healthy. This week I had the chance to sample Tyson Foods new marinated chicken breasts.  These products will be available in Walmart starting next week, but I was sent some packages early for my family and I to try out!  I made this delicious Steakhouse Chicken with Mushrooms, Onions and Cheese for my family’s dinner yesterday, and it was a big hit.

Tyson Steakhouse Chicken with Mushrooms, Onions and Cheese

The two flavors of chicken are Smokey Steakhouse and Southwest Pepper Trio.

Chicken is something I serve for dinner frequently, because it is healthy and not too expensive.  But I like to change my recipes up, because too much chicken can be boring and bland. Both of these dishes are nicely spiced to add a little excitement to meals. I also like that they can be baked without being thawed.  It is nice to have something in the freezer I can make on the spur of the moment!

Tyson Smokey Steakhouse Chicken

I chose to bake the chicken in the oven, although it can also be prepared in a skillet.  While the chicken cooked I sauted some mushrooms and onions in butter.

Mushrooms, Onions, bacon and cheese

Once the chicken was done baking I topped it with the mushrooms-onion mixture and some bacon that was left over from breakfast.

Then I sprinkled the chicken with a few tablespoons of cheese and put it back in the oven for five minutes to melt the cheese.  I like to use a little cheese and bacon to add flavor to meals, but not so much that it overwhelms the chicken and adds tons of fat. The resulting dish was very tasty, and it wasn’t hard to make at all.

My husband complains when we have chicken too often, but he really enjoyed this meal.  He asked what spices I’d used on the chicken, and was surprised to learn that it came already marinaded. The chicken was just a little spicy, and not dry at all.  In keeping with the steakhouse theme I served it with broccoli and potato wedges.

A Steakhouse Chicken Dinner

I can’t wait to try out the Southwestern Pepper Trio later this week.  I think I am going to use it for chicken fajitas, which should be another quick and easy meal.

Here is the full recipe for my dish.
