I love smoothies, and they are perfect for making a quick snack or having for breakfast. Â Last week I made this delicious Strawberry Avocado Smoothie for a snack.
So many smoothies use yogurt as a base, and while I love yogurt I don’t like it in smoothies. Â For this smoothie I used avocado and bananas to get a smooth creamy taste without yogurt or milk.
For this smoothie the ratio of avocados to strawberries is important. Â The first time I tried it I only used 5 strawberries, and it was a not sweet enough. Â It was also an ugly puce green color, which made it less appealing! Â So I added 7 more strawberries to the blender, which gave it a great flavor boost, and made it a pretty light pink color. Â Trial and error is frequently necessary to find the ideal smoothie recipe.
The smoothie tastes mostly of strawberries and bananas, with just a hint of avocado. Â I used fresh strawberries, but frozen ones would work just as well, especially since strawberries this time of year tend to not be of the highest quality. Â If you are using frozen strawberries you could probably eliminate the ice in the recipe.
- ⅓ avocado
- 12 strawberries
- ½ banana
- ½ c. water
- ½ c. ice
- Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until creamy. Add more water if it is too thick.
