Next weekend is the huge 14th annual PPG Syracuse Nationals presented by Fastrac Markets and Ford Tri-State Dealer Group car show at the New York State Fairgrounds! This is the largest car show in the northeast, and will be a three day automotive extravaganza lasting from Friday, July 19th through Sunday, July 21st. My husband and I are thrilled to have the chance to attend and report about this event on my blog.
This is a fun event which has become a tradition for thousands of classic car and truck owners and their families from all over the country and Canada. They bring their classic cars, and camp out at the fairgrounds for the weekend. The event is open to hot rods, muscle cars, classics and customs manufactured in 1980 and before. For those of us not lucky enough to own a classic car there is still plenty to do, with events like an autocross test course, appearances by the stars of the hit reality show “American Pickers,” a pinstripers’ panel jam auction for charity, and a “Million Dollar Garage” for Winfield Award nominees. And of course there are also vendors to browse, and thousands of classic cars to see.
Last year the show was huge, with more than 400 vendors and 7700 cars on display! There is just too much to see it all, but my husband and I are planning to give it our best shot.
You can buy advanced sale tickets at local Fastrac locations, which is a good idea because there is a significant discount. Adult tickets are $17 at the gate and $12 in advance, while kids 6-12 are $8 at the gate and $6 in advance. Check out the website for more details.
My husband has been browsing classic cars and trucks lately, and wishing he had one. When we first started dating he drove an old 1970s Lincoln Continental. It was a rust bucket and had horrible gas mileage, but it was fun to drive! I am sure we will be looking for similar cars at the show, and reminiscing.
What is your favorite classic car?
Disclosure: I am receiving complimentary tickets, all opinions are my own.
