The new movie The Amazing Spider-Man will be released on DVD and Blu-ray next week, on November 9th. My family didn’t have a chance to see this in the theaters, but we had the chance to watch it early thanks to Sony Pictures who sent us a preview copy! So we had a Family Night fun get together to eat pizza and cupcakes and watch the movie.

Men in Black 3 is being released soon, and my family is looking forward to watching it together. It is a fun family movie, because it is funny without really being scary. The aliens are played for laughs, not horror, and Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones make hilarious team. My teens are the perfect age for this movie, because goofy, campy humor is just what they like.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island has just been released on DVD and Blu-Ray. This movie is a sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth, and stars Josh Hutcherson, who most recently was seen as Peeta in The Hunger Games. In this new movie Hutcherson finds a hidden signal that he believes will lead him to his long last grandfather, and ends up on the island of Atlantis. There is lots of action involving giant bees, killer lizards, electric eels and a volcano of gold.
