No one in my family is sensitive to wheat products, but I have some friends who are. I know what a challenge it is to avoid products with gluten – it seems to be in everything, even things you would not expect. The 11 year old daughter of one of my friends has celiac disease, and has to avoid all wheat products. It is hard enough for an adult, but for a child who sees all the yummy treats her friends are eating it is even more difficult. That is why it is so great that gluten free products have become more common over the past few years.

To enter you need to submit an original gluten free holiday-themed appetizer, bread or dessert recipe, using any Betty Crocker Gluten Free dessert mix or Bisquick Gluten Free baking mix. Recipes will be judged on five key categories: taste, creativity, ease of preparation, consumer appeal and appearance.
To help celebrate the contest Betty Crocker sent me 5 gluten free mixes to try out. My children wanted to try out the chocolate chip cookies first. We had never made gluten free cookies before, so I was a little nervous about how they would taste, but I knew the kids would give me their honest opinion. The mix was very easy to use and the kids made it without any help from me. The texture of the cookies was a more crumbly than what we are used to, but the kids gobbled them up just the same. My husband didn’t like them, but that was a plus as far as the rest of us were concerned since that meant there were more cookies for us.
We haven’t had a chance to try the rest of the mixes yet, but we are going to make the brownies soon. Thanks to Betty Crocker and MyBlogSpark I have a prize pack with the same 5 mixes I received to give to one of my readers.
