I am always looking for healthy snacks that I can grab and eat on the run. So I was glad to review these new bars from Columbia Gorge Organic called CoGoBars. Columbia Gorge Organic has been farming organically for over 25 years in the Hood River area of Oregon. They recently started making these bars, which are quite different from a granola bar, because they are made from a gluten-free fruit and grain mix that comes from pears from the company’s own orchards. The result is a bar that is tasty, all the while being gluten free, vegan and having no refined sugars!
Snacking with New York Style Bagel Chips–Original and Mini

Tostitos Thins Tortilla Chip Review
Tostitos has just introduced a new tortilla chip, the Tostitos Thins. These are lighter, thinner chips which are dusted with special salts, making them perfect for snacking. To celebrate these chips Tostitos has launched a new tab on their Facebook page, the Tostitos Fiesta 411 tab. This is a great online destination for planning a party at home. It includes recipes and party planning tips.
I checked out the tab and there are a lot of great ideas there. It has ideas for centerpieces, party favors and even wrapping paper. It is certainly a useful resource for party planning.
Dole Real Fruit Bites Review and Giveaway
I recently had the chance to try out a new product from Dole, the Dole Real Fruit Bites. These are made from real dried fruit, and then are coated with a yogurt and oatmeal mixture. The fruit bites come in three flavors, apple, pineapple and mango and are packaged in handy pouches for single servings. My kids love to have these kind of handy snacks for grabbing when they are on the go. My daughter always needs a quick, no messy snack to take with her to ballet class, and these are a great size. Plus her dance teachers will lecture her on nutrition if she brings something junky, so she needs snacks that are both convenient and nutritious.
Cheerios Snack Bars Recipe
We have lots and lots of Cheerios in the house right now, so I wanted to make a Cheerio dessert. The Cheerios website has a whole section of recipes on it, and I modified the Banana Nut Snack Bars recipe to make these chocolate covered Cheerio Snack Bars.
Brothers All-Natural Fruit Crisps–A Healthy Snack
I am always looking for healthy snacks, especially ones that appeal to my children. My kids idea of an ideal snack is a bag of potato chips, which is not what I want them eating! I recently received a huge variety of Brothers All-Natural Fruit Crisps to try out, and they were a big hit with my children. Brothers All-Natural uses fruit from around the world, and freeze-dries it into thin and flavorful chip-like "crisps". The crisps contain no fat, no preservatives, and are very low in calories. The crisps are made of 100% fruit, and nothing else, there are no odd ingredients, refined sugar or artificial additives. [Read more...]
Peeled Snacks Review
I reviewed Peeled Snacks last year, and they are still a favorite of mine. Dried fruit is a sweet snack that you don’t have to feel guilty about eating. Last year I had to order Peeled Snacks online, but now they are available in one of my local stores, which is convenient. I had a little trouble finding them in the store, since they were with the fresh fruits and vegetables, which was not where I thought they would be!
Super Bowl Snacking Infographic
I just went shopping and stocked up on snacks for the Super Bowl. We are Giants fans here, so we are excited for the game. I found this infographic on Super Bowl snacks and though it was interesting. I got chips, dips and chicken wings, so it looks like I have a lot of same food as everyone else. I hope to stay way under 1200 calories for the game though, yikes! What are your Super Bowl snacking plans? [Read more...]
Fiber One Brownies Review and Giveaway
One of the hardest things about trying to lose weight for me is to avoid sweets. I have very low will power when it comes to delicious desserts. I always tell myself I will resist, but it is hard to resist when everyone else is indulging. Fiber One is trying to help by introducing Fiber One® 90 Calorie Brownies. They are moist chewy brownie treat that have only 90 calories, and include 5 grams of fiber, which makes them a (relatively) good choice.
