I was provided an all expense paid trip by Disney to attend the premiere of this film. All opinions are my own.
Two red carpet events in two days? Seems unbelievable, and yet 24 hours after my first red carpet premiere for Delivery Man I was back at the El Capitan Theatre for the premiere of Thor: The Dark World!
The atmosphere was electric, and the crowds were even bigger and louder. Stars were everywhere, and we walked right by Chris Hemsworth while he was on the red carpet! The red carpet was divided with motorcycles and velvet ropes, with celebrities on one side being photographed, and the rest of us on the other side. It was exciting to walk past so many famous people, even I mostly just saw the backs of their heads!
I was especially thrilled to see legends Anthony Hopkins who plays Odin, and producer Stan Lee, an iconic comic book writer. And the stars were being very gracious about signing autographs and taking selfies with the many fans who were waiting.
Then it was time to head up to the theater balcony and put on our 3-D glasses for the movie screening.
I loved the movie, and enjoyed it more even than the first Thor. The movie has amazing action scenes, from the opening all the way through the spectacular final battle. The movie is set all over the 9 Realms, not just on Earth, which was cool and made it seem more like science fiction than many previous Marvel movies.
The movie starts right where the Avengers ended, with Loki sent back to Asgard in chains. It seems like peace has come to the 9 Realms, but then a new danger arrives. Thor reunites with Jane only to realize that the entire universe is in danger. There are twists and surprises right up to the final scene, and as with all Marvel movies there are extra scenes after the credits, so don’t leave the theater too soon!
The movie was funny too, but the humor didn’t detract from the action. I enjoyed the sibling bickering between Thor and Loki, because their interplay was very amusing. All the actors were great, with standout performances from Kat Denning and Tom Hiddleston. All in all it was a very fun movie, with action, romance, humor and some great 3-D special effects.
The movie opens today, November 8th in theaters everywhere! Check out all the action in the preview below.
