As soon as I heard about these Yogurt Cups I knew I had to try them because I love the idea of shelf stable yogurt. I have seen nothing like this before, and headed to Walmart to pick up some of the flavors.

The product is found in the cold or ready-to-eat section of the cereal aisle.  It comes in three flavors – Strawberry Almond, Apple Cinnamon, Raspberry Pecan. I brought home some Strawberry Almond and Apple Cinnamon to try out.

It is very simple to make. The yogurt comes in a handy serving container, and to activate it you simply add cold milk and stir.  Two minutes later the yogurt is ready to eat!

I decided to make a simple fruit compote to combine with the yogurt for a parfait.  I like fruit compotes because they are so easy to make, and you can use whatever fruit is currently in season.  For my parfait I combined cherries and plums, because that is what I picked up at my local farmer’s market.

The plums were small yellow mirabelle plums, which are delicious, but not always found in grocery stores.  I am sure any type of plums would work in the recipe. I pitted both the cherries and plums, and then combined them in a sauce pan with a little bit of water and honey.

After the fruit cooked for about 15 minutes I let it cool, poured it into a mason jar, and refrigerated it.

One of the nice things about this recipe is that it stores well in the refrigerator, so you can make it once and then use it over the next week. I spooned some compote on top of the Yogurt Cups and it was delicious.

I just tried the Quaker Real Medleys Yogurt Cups on my road trip with my husband. They were a great quick breakfast to start off our mornings. I will have to try your recipe and having a midday parfait snack.
