4th of July Fun

On the 4th we had to take my son to Boy Scout camp. Who ever heard of camp starting on July 4th?  Anyway since the camp was a 3 hour drive from our house into the Adirondack Mountains, we decided to all go and spend the day enjoying the outdoors after we dropped him off.  We found a waterfall, Buttermilk Falls, and enjoyed swimming in the current below the falls.

We had a blast and spent a few hours swimming and picnicking.  Then we decided to hike up a mountain, much to the disappointment of the two girls.  They whined constantly about being made to hike, and it was only 4 miles round trip.  They finally decided we were too slow and old, and left us behind to make their own way.  We caught up with them at the summit, and enjoyed the view of Blue Mountain Lake.

So no fireworks for us on the 4th, but we had a great day, even with the whiny teenagers, and hopefully my son is enjoying his week at Boy Scout camp without us.
