Key Ingredients
For exact amounts needed see the recipe card below
Pork chops – I use bone-in ones in this recipe. But it will also work fine with boneless pork chops. Try to buy ones of equal thickness so that they will cook evenly. Cooking pork chops in the air fryer works best when they are at least 1 inch thick.
Seasoning – For this recipe, I used my favorite homemade pork rub. But you can substitute a simple mixture of salt, paprika, and garlic powder. See below for even more seasoning variation ideas.
Bread crumbs – Fine, unseasoned bread crumbs work well in this recipe. I prefer not to use panko bread crumbs because of their coarser texture.
Egg – The egg coats the meat and helps the breadcrumbs stick.
Spray Oil – Use a spray bottle filled with oil, not a commercial cooking spray, for best results. The oil will help brown the breading. I prefer to use an olive oil spray.
How to Make Breaded Pork Chops in Air Fryer
1. Bread the Pork Chops
Take the meat out of the package and pat it dry with paper towels. The breading will stick better if you ensure the meat is dry before starting.
Then break the egg into a medium bowl and stir. Put the bread crumbs in another shallow bowl. Sprinkle the seasoning on both sides of the chops.
Pick up one chop and dip it into the bowl with the egg. Swish it around, so it gets well coated. Then dip the pork chop into the bowl of bread crumbs and flip it, so it is covered on both sides. Shake off any excess crumbs.
Set the breaded pork chop aside and dip the remaining ones. Once done, spray the chops with oil to help them crisp in the air fryer.
2. Air Fry
Preheat the air fryer at 380 degrees F for 2 minutes. Then add the meat, keeping it in a single layer and ensuring the air can circulate. You might need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
For one-inch thick pork chops, air fry at 380 F for 12-15 minutes, flipping them over after 6 minutes. Usually, bone-in chops take a few minutes longer to cook than boneless ones.
They are done when they are golden brown and have reached an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Make sure to check the temperature near the bone for bone-in chops.
Always use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature, don’t try to cook based just on time. A thermometer is not expensive and the peace of mind they give you is priceless. Food poisoning is not fun! This is my favorite inexpensive meat thermometer, which you can buy on Amazon.
Serving Ideas
This is a delicious, versatile favorite family dinner. I like to pair it with green beans and mashed potatoes for an easy comfort food meal. It is an easy dish to make, even on a busy weeknight!
How to Store
Store leftover pork chops in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. You can use leftovers on sandwiches, salads, or as part of a stir fry. You can also reheat the pork chops in the air fryer at 350 degrees for about 3 minutes, although they won’t be as crispy.
Seasoning Variations
Here are some other tasty ways to season these pork chops:
- Use 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
- Use 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning for an Italian-inspired taste.
- Buy seasoned Italian breadcrumbs and just season the meat with a little bit of salt and black pepper.
- Add 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese to the breading mixture.

Be sure to check out the step by step instructions
- For even cooking, try to get pieces of meat of the same thickness.
- Pat them dry before adding the seasoning.
- Use a single layer and don’t overcrowd the air fryer. If you don’t have a large air fryer, cook in batches.
- Always use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. And keep in mind that pork at 145 F might still be a little pink.
- Commercial spray oils can cause damage to the finish on a non-stick basket. So use an inexpensive spray bottle filled with oil instead.
