🔪How to Make Air Fryer Hasselback Potatoes
- Prep – Scrub the potatoes under cold water to wash off any dirt. Slice a thin layer off the bottom of the potato so it will sit flat while you slice it.
- Slice – Put two similar size wooden spoons or chopsticks on either side of the potato to stop the knife. Cut 1/4 inch slices all the way down the length of the potato. Make sure to cut part of the way through.
- Microwave – Brush potatoes with a bit of oil. Then microwave them for 10 minutes. This will speed up the cooking process. While they cook, slice the cheese and bacon to fit into the potato slices.
- Add bacon and cheese – Once they are cool enough to touch, place alternating slices of cheese and bacon in each.
- Air fry – Brush them with more oil and season with salt, garlic, and pepper. Then put them in a single layer in the air fry at 390 degrees F for 10-30 minutes until they are fork tender.

⭐Tips and Variations
Be sure to check out the step by step instructions
- You can make thicker slices in the potatoes, but the edges won’t be as crispy.
- Make sure you use a sharp knife so you get nice clean cuts.
- Switch flavoring by using your favorite spices. Add chili powder for a spicy kick or Italian seasoning to serve with an Italian pasta dish.
- Poke the potatoes with a toothpick to tell if they are done. If it goes in easily, they are ready to serve.
- Make sure you don’t cut all the way through the potato.
- You can leave off the bacon for a vegetarian side dish. Or leave off both the cheese and the bacon. The potato slices will still be crispy and delicious.
📝FAQ
Yes, you can make them the day before and just put them back in the air fryer to heat them up. Reheat them at 360 degrees F for 5-10 minutes of cooking time.
Any firm potato will work well. Russet, red, or Yukon gold potatoes are all excellent. You can also make hasselback baby potatoes or hasselback sweet potatoes.
This is a matter of personal preference. Potato skin has a lot of nutrients, so I leave it on. But peeling won’t affect the recipe, so go ahead if you aren’t a fan of potato skins.
