The air fryer perfectly toasts the marshmallow while gently melting the chocolate. The graham crackers stay crisp, and you can control how toasted your marshmallows get (no more accidentally lighting them on fire!).

What I love most about making s’mores in the air fryer is that there’s no mess to clean up, no smoke in your house, and no need to gather firewood or wait for perfect weather. Plus, you can make them one at a time whenever a craving hits – ideal for those nights when you need a little something sweet.

Let me walk you through the simple steps, share some helpful tips I’ve learned through trial and error, and answer some common questions. This indoor s’mores hack will have you enjoying this classic treat any time of year.

🥘Ingredient Notes

For exact amounts needed see the recipe card below

  • Graham Crackers
  • Marshmallows: Regular marshmallows work, but I strongly recommend using larger marshmallows, like Campfire Giant Roasters or Jet-Puffed S’mores marshmallows. They’re perfect for achieving that gooey, melty texture we all love.
  • Chocolate Bars: Classic Hershey’s milk chocolate bars are the traditional choice, and for good reason! They melt perfectly and have convenient pre-scored sections.

🥣How to Make Air Fryer S’mores

  1. Start by breaking your graham crackers in half. You’ll need both halves – one for the bottom and one for the top of each s’more. I like to do this step first so everything’s ready to go.
  2. Break up your Hershey bars into sections of three squares each. Each regular-sized bar will yield four sections.
  3. Place one section of chocolate (3 squares) on one half of a graham cracker and a large marshmallow on the other half. Keep them separate for now.
  4. Arrange your prepared graham crackers in your air fryer basket. Make sure they’re not overlapping – we want even heating. I can fit 4-6 at a time in my air fryer.
  5. Set your air fryer to 350 degrees F and cook for 3 minutes.
  6. Carefully remove the hot crackers from the air fryer. Working quickly, place the chocolate-topped crackers on top of the marshmallow crackers and gently press down.

🍴Serving Ideas

Enjoy air fryer s’mores right away while the chocolate and marshmallows are still warm and gooey. Keep some napkins handy—you’ll definitely need them!

When serving, place each s’more on a small paper plate or napkin. These treats can get wonderfully messy, just like traditional campfire s’mores, and you will appreciate having something to catch any melty chocolate or marshmallow drips.

💭How to Store

S’mores are so fast that you can make them as you eat them, so no storage is necessary. For the tastiest results, I recommend storing the components separately.

Keep the graham crackers in their original packaging or an airtight container. Store chocolate bars in a cool, dry place, and keep the marshmallows in a tightly sealed bag.

⭐Tips

Be sure to check out the step by step instructions

  • I’ve found that the large s’mores-sized marshmallows work best – regular ones are just too small for the graham cracker and are more likely to get blown around in the air fryer.
  • Try some other types of candy for a different flavor. Make them with peanut butter cups, or try a dark chocolate bar. Different chocolates melt at different rates, so watch closely as you experiment.
  • Break your chocolate bars into pieces of the right size before you start cooking. Trying to break chocolate while juggling hot marshmallows is a recipe for disaster!
  • Leave some space between your graham crackers in the air fryer basket for better air circulation and more even melting. I usually make six graham cracker halves at a time in my air fryer basket, which makes three s’mores at once.
  • Every air fryer is different, so check your s’mores during the first batch. Depending on your model, you might need to adjust the cooking time slightly.

📝Reader Questions

Why are my marshmallows flying around in the air fryer?

If your marshmallows are taking flight, they’re too light. Use the larger s’mores-sized marshmallows, and if you air fryer fan has variable speeds lower the speed.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Not really. However, you can pre-break your graham crackers and chocolate to save time when ready to make them.

How do I clean up the sticky mess?

If your marshmallows fly off the graham crackers, it might get messy! First, let your air fryer cool completely. Then, use a damp cloth with warm water to wipe away any marshmallow residue.

Can I use stale marshmallows?

Fresh marshmallows work best for melting. Stale ones are harder and won’t give you that perfect gooey center you want. I’ve tried to salvage those forgotten marshmallows from the back of my pantry, but it is not worth it!
