What About Snow Peas?

You can make this recipe with either sugar snap peas or snow peas. The two vegetables have a similar flavor and can be interchanged in cooking without issues.

Snow peas are flatter and not quite as sweet as snap peas. But use whichever one you prefer in this easy recipe. You can even combine the two and cook them together.

Key Ingredients

Fresh sugar snap peas or snow peas – If you can find stringless sugar snap peas or snow peas then do. It saves the time it takes to remove the strings.

Oil – I like to use sesame oil for these veggies. Olive oil or another type would work fine.

Seasoning – I season these simply with salt and sesame seeds. Some black pepper or garlic powder would also make a great addition to the recipe.

How to Roast Snap Peas in the Air Fryer

1. Prep

Wash the peas and pat them dry. You can buy stringless snap peas, but most of the time there is a string running up the side.

These strings are kind of chewy and it is more appetizing to remove them before cooking. Use your fingers to peel the string off.

2. Season

Put the veggies in a medium bowl. Then drizzle them with the sesame oil and sprinkle on the salt. Toss them so they are coated with the oil.

3. Air Fry

Put the peas in the air fryer basket. There is no need to preheat the air fryer. Spread them out so that the air can circulate.

Air fry them at 380 degrees F for 7 minutes. They are done when the skin starts to wrinkle and they turn a little bit brown in spots.

You don’t want them to get very brown, just a little bit around the edges. If they aren’t done put them back in for 1-2 more minutes.

Once they are cooked toss them with sesame seeds to serve.

What to Serve with Air Fryer Sugar Snap Peas

I seasoned these air fried snap peas with sesame oil and sesame seeds, giving them a slightly Asian flavor profile. They are delicious serve with an Asian dinner like honey glazed chicken thighs.

You can serve them with almost any meal though. They are so quick and easy to make I love to use them when I want a simple and fast side dish.

To reheat the air fryer snow peas or snap peas put them back in the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 2-3 minutes.
