They’re crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and much healthier than the deep-fried version you get at Chinese restaurants. The outside gets that perfect golden crispness, while the cream cheese filling gets warm and melty—all without the mess and hassle of traditional deep frying.

Ingredient Notes

For exact amounts needed see the recipe card below

  • Wonton Wrappers: You’ll find these in the produce section of most grocery stores, usually near the tofu. They’re square-shaped and perfect for folding into these cute little packages. If you don’t use the whole package, freeze the extras!
  • Cream Cheese:  Make sure it’s softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • Garlic
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Green Onions
  • Salt
  • Vegetable Oil

How to Make Air Fryer Cream Cheese Wontons

  1. Combine the softened cream cheese, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, finely chopped green onions, and salt in a large bowl. Mix well.
  2. Lay a wonton wrapper out on a cutting board. Place a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Don’t overfill them, or they’ll burst while cooking.
  3. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water – I use my finger for this. Then bring all four corners up to meet in the middle, like you’re making a little purse. Pinch those corners together, then seal up each side seam.
  4. Once you have enough to fill your air fryer basket (probably 9- 12), preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F
  5. While it preheats, use a pastry brush each wonton lightly with vegetable oil. This helps them get that beautiful golden color.
  6. Place them in your air fryer basket, ensuring they’re not touching each other. Cook for 4-6 minutes until they’re golden brown and crispy.
  7. Work in batches until all your wontons are cooked. This recipe usually yields about 30 wontons, but the number of batches will depend on your air fryer’s size.

Serving Ideas

These crispy cream cheese wontons are practically begging to be dunked in something delicious! My family goes crazy for them served with sweet chili sauce, which you can find in most grocery stores in the Asian foods section.

Sometimes, I’ll set out multiple dipping options because variety is the spice of life! Here are some of our favorite dipping sauces:

  • Sweet and sour sauce
  • Soy sauce (try mixing in a little sriracha for heat!)
  • Duck sauce
  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Plum sauce

These wontons make an amazing appetizer for any Asian-inspired meal, but I’ve also served them as party appetizers dozens of times. They’re always one of the first things to disappear from the buffet table!

How to Store

While these cream cheese wontons are best enjoyed fresh and hot from the air fryer, sometimes you end up with leftovers. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Just be aware that they won’t stay as crispy as when fresh.

The air fryer works great for reheating these wontons! A quick 2-3 minutes at 350 degrees F will bring back that wonderful crispy texture. Avoid microwaving if possible – it’ll make them soggy and chewy.

Tips & Tricks

Be sure to check out the step by step instructions

  • Don’t overfill these. Stick to about one teaspoon of filling per wrapper. Any more, and cream cheese will ooze out everywhere during cooking.
  • Make sure those edges are really pinched together tight. A little water on your finger works like magic to help create a good seal.
  • Keep your wonton wrappers covered with a damp paper towel while working. They can dry out quickly, which makes them harder to seal.
  • Don’t crowd your air fryer basket! I usually fit 9-10 in my basket at once.
  • That light brush of oil makes a huge difference in getting that gorgeous golden-brown color. I use a pastry brush to brush on the oil. I have tried spraying them with an oil spray bottle, but it doesn’t work as well as brushing the oil on.
