Baseball and my Washer

Sears Hometown Store wants to know what sport gives my appliances the biggest workout, and for my family the answer is baseball – hands down.  My 11 year old son loves baseball.  This year he played regular Little League in the spring, then was on the All Star team for the summer, and then he signed up for Fall Ball, which just finished.  So I have been washing baseball uniforms in my washer for the past seven months!  And when you add in the fact that we have had an unusually rainy fall, you can guess that the uniforms I have been washing lately have been muddy and grassed stained.

When my son doesn’t have a game he likes to practice.  Now to practice hitting or catching he needs a partner to pitch to him or play catch.  Sadly his older sisters, father and I are not available to practice with him as often as he would like.  He could get his pitchback out of the barn, set that up and practice by himself, but that takes some time and effort.  So many times he just goes out to practice sliding.  Now I didn’t think this was a skill that needed much practice, but he disagrees.  He will practice sliding in the grass for 5 or 10 minutes at a time, and come in with his pants covered in grass stains.  It seems to me it would make more sense to practice sprinting so he had to slide less, but I guess that isn’t as much fun.  My son might not be the best hitter in his league, but gosh darn it, he is going to be the best at sliding.  Luckily my washer and dryer are up to the task of removing grass stains.
