Bob Marley Headphones and Christmas Misses

Bob Marley Rasta HeadphonesDid you have any big Christmas misses?  One of the things on my 15 year old’s Christmas list was Skull Candy headphones. She broke hers about 4 months ago, and rather than spending money on new ones has been borrowing the headphones of everyone else in the house.  So I bought her a pair for her stocking, and I naively picked the pretty ones at the left because I liked the colors.  I though she would like having striped headphones.

Well when she opened her stocking she was horrified!  She said she couldn’t believe I had bought her these headphones, because they are the “stoner” headphones.  It turns out these are Bob Marley Rasta headphones, and at her high school all the stoner kids wear them. She tells me it would be social suicide to show up at school with these headphones.  So she traded with her sister, who is in college and assured me no one in her dorm will even notice.

Isn’t buying for teens fun?  That was our big miss for Christmas this year, and actually ended up being one of the funniest presents in years.  My daughter’s reaction to the headphones was hilarious, if I had known what they symbolized it would have still been worth getting them just to see her reaction.  How about you, did you have any big hits or misses this year?

  1. Well, since you asked.: Your big hit was the nerf gun for your nephew Johnny. I have never seen a more delighted kid. My big hit was the chia pet for your brother who hadn’t given me any ideas for Christmas. He is probably still laughing about the silly thing.

  2. Luckily I don’t have to buy for any teens. I am pretty good at gift giving in general so no big misses. A bit hit was a photo canvas that I made for my brother and sister in law. It made her cry!

  3. Very funny. It’s so hard to buy for teens. My sister in law would have loved to get these. I gave her Bob Marley Pint glasses from Target. She loved them. Oh well. At least you tried. “Social Suicide” still laughing here.
