I posted a few days ago about the Box Tops for Education program and why it is important to me to participate in it. But one thing that can be an issue with the program is keeping track of all the Box Tops! At my house they tend to pile up before I get around to donating them, and piles of cardboard sitting around on the counter are kind of ugly! So I created this Box Top Collection Container to keep them all organized and ready to donate in one convenient location.
Box Top Collection Container - an easy and cute way to store box tops for your school

I wanted to create a Box Top Collection Container that would look good on my kitchen counter, but not cost me much to make. After all the whole purpose of collecting Box Tops is to save money! I scoured the house for an appropriate container to repurpose, and the kids and I decided that a leftover Chinese take out container would be perfect.

My husband loves the Wonton Soup at our local Chinese restaurant, so we have quite a few of these soup containers around the house. It is the perfect size, and since it is plastic I don’t have to worry about spills on the counter damaging our Box Top collection.

I used some fabric Duck Tape that I bought on clearance last year to decorate the container. I made stripes with the fabric tape, and then used puffy paint to add sparkly gold dots in between the stripes.

Then I took a knife and cut a slot in the lid so that it would be easy to drop in our Box Tops. The result is a bright and colorful Box Top Collection Container that looks much, much better than the random pile it is replacing.
