These Cajun Wings are the perfect combination of crispy, juicy, and spicy, and will become a new favorite snack! These dry rub wings are packed with flavor and make tasty comfort food.
Crispy wings are a universal favorite, whether you are making them for game day or a fun Mardi Gras celebration. The Cajun seasoning gives them just the right amount of spice – they are not bland but not overly hot either.
And while air frying is my favorite method of cooking wings because it makes crispier wings, you can bake these in the oven too. Either way gives you delicious wings!
In this post, you will learn how to make Cajun chicken wings, find serving ideas, and learn how to reheat chicken wings in the air fryer. So let’s make some wings!

🍗Key Ingredients
For exact amounts needed see the recipe card below
- Chicken wings – Buy them cut apart into flats and drumettes if possible.
- Cajun seasoning – Use homemade or store-bought seasoning. Slap Ya Mama is my favorite, despite the annoying name!
- Baking powder – This is necessary for crispy wings.
🥣How to Make Cajun Wings
- Cut the wings – If you have whole chicken wings, cut them into flats and drumettes. It is easier to cook and eat them if you separate them.
- Season – Pat the wings dry and put them in a bowl or plastic bag. Add the Cajun seasoning and baking powder. Stir them or shake the bag until they are completely coated.
- Air fry instructions – Put the wings in the air fryer basket, keeping them in a single layer. Cook at 360 degrees F for 18 minutes. Then flip them over and cook at 400 F for 6 minutes. This makes them extra crispy.
- Oven baking instructions – Put the wings on racks on parchment paper lined baking sheets. Spray them with a little nonstick cooking spray. Bake in a preheated 400 F oven for 40 minutes, flipping them over halfway through the cooking time.
🍴Serving Ideas
Serve the Cajun chicken wings with your favorite dipping sauces. I like to serve them with a ranch dipping sauce or remoulade sauce. Or add hot sauce for extra hot wings!
If you want to serve them as a main dish, there are many fantastic sides to make with wings. My favorites are sweet potato wedges, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and hasselback potatoes.
💭How to Store
Keep your leftover wings fresh by storing them in an airtight container. Enjoy within 2-3 days for the best flavor.
👩🍳How to Reheat
An air fryer is a fantastic option if you’re looking to reheat chicken wings. Place the wings in the air fryer and cook them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-7 minutes. This method is also effective for reheating restaurant leftovers.
❓What’s in Cajun Seasoning?
The exact ingredients vary by brand. But most include paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, thyme, black pepper, and salt.
🔥Is Cajun Seasoning Spicy?
How spicy Cajun seasoning is varied, depending on the amount of cayenne pepper used in the blend of spices. Some are very hot and some not so much. So choose your seasoning blend based on your personal preferences.
⭐Tips for Making the Best …
Be sure to check out the step by step instructions
- Make sure to pat the chicken dry, so it crisps nicely.
- Most Cajun seasonings have plenty of salt, so don’t add salt unless you have a salt-free mix.
- The wings only need cooking spray if you are baking in the oven.
- My 5.8-quart air fryer can fit about 2 pounds of wings in one batch.

Notes
Frozen Wings in Air Fryer
For frozen wings, don’t add the seasoning at the beginning. It won’t stick well to frozen wings. Air fry at 360 degrees F for 26 minutes. Flip after 15 minutes and add the Cajun seasoning then, but skip the baking powder. Then increase the heat to 400 degrees F and air fry them for another 6 minutes. Check with an instant-read thermometer to ensure they have reached 165 degrees F.As an Amazon Associate and member of other affiliate programs, I earn from qualifying purchases.
