I love wine, and it makes a great present during the Holiday Season. And for me it is much more convenient to have wine delivered right to my house, and save the time and trouble of picking it out. When it comes to wine I don’t know much about how to choose the perfect bottle, so a club like the California Wine Club that does all the selecting for me works well. The club works with local vineyards in California to find the best wines from real working artisan wineries and then ships them right to me door so my family and I can enjoy them.
A big benefit to a wine club is that every month you get different wines. So it is a great opportunity to sample a wide variety of wines, some of which you might not have been familiar with. And the wines all come from small California wineries, many of which are family owned, like the Robledo Family Winery, whose wine I was able to sample this month.
I received the 2009 “Seven Brothers†Napa Valley Tempranillo, which is a bright red ruby colored wine. I had never had Tempranillo wine before, and it was excellent. It has a strong fruit flavor and very complex flavors. It is a very rich tasting wine, and they recommend pairing it with grilled meats and vegetables.
The second wine I was sent was the 2008 “Seven Brothers†Lake Country Sauvignon Blanc. This is a nice white wine that tasted light and fresh. It had a good combination of tastes, and was sweet at first, but not too sweet. The two wines complimented each other well, since one was a light summery white wine and one was a full bodied rich red wine.
The California Wine Club has a number of different memberships you can buy, but the most popular is the Premier Club. This starts at $49.95 a month which includes shipping and handling. They also have a Signature Series and Aged Cabernet Series for those who are more of a wine connoisseur, and an International Series if you want to expand beyond the wines of California. Visit their website for information on how you can order wine as a Holiday gift, or connect with them on twitter @cawineclub or
Facebook. Check back next month when I will have a great California Wine Club giveaway to share with you!
