The Choose Your Own Adventure series of books has been popular among young readers since the 1980s. They are a fun concept, where after every few pages of reading the reader faces two or three options, each of which leads to more options and to many possible endings. The Mystery of the Maya, which I received for my son to review, has 39 possible endings! I always enjoyed using these books as family read alouds, since I was able to keep everyone involved, making choices and deciding which direction the story would go. Sometimes the choices lead to happy endings, and sometimes they lead to disaster. I also like the fact that these books are relatively quick to read, and always have enough excitement and danger to keep everyone on the edge of their seats.
Right now Frito-Lay is partnering with the Choose Your Own Adventure series to promote reading and giveaway free books. Frito-Lay Variety Packs have a code on the packaging that allow you download one of three original digital Choose Your Own Adventure books for your family to enjoy. The books available are Pirate, Time Travel and Safari, and they all sound adventure filled.
There are two Frito-Lay Variety Packs, the Classic Mix with and the Flavor Mix, each with a different mix of products. These packs contain 22 individual bags of chips each, so they are perfect for families. I received one of each of the packs, and we will be using them all summer for family picnics and to take out on our boat as snacks. Having a wide variety of flavors to choose from is convenient, and helps prevent arguments. Of course they are also perfect for packing school lunches as summer winds down.
