While was in Los Angles earlier this month I had the chance to interview some of the stars of Delivery Man, Vince Vaughn, Cobie Smulders and Chris Pratt. The movie stars Vince Vaughn, and you can see his interview here.  Today I have interviews with Cobie Smulders who plays, Emma, the girlfriend of Vince’s character, and Chris Pratt, who plays his best friend Brett.

"Delivery Man" World Premiere

Chris was running a little late, so we started off just asking questions of Cobie.  She told us she was attracted to this movie because she loved the story.  The original film the movie was based on was French Canadian, and as a Canadian she was excited to be involved in the remake.

One of her favorite things about the movie is that they were able to actually film in Brooklyn.  The story is set there, but nowadays many films are filmed in cheaper places, but she feels filming in New York added character to the movie.

Cobie said that being a mom definitely helped her relate to her character, who is pregnant during the film.

I remember just crazy emotions that come into play when you’re pregnant and I think that one of the things that I know I crave and I think that pregnant women do crave is stability. You know, you’re in this situation where especially if it’s your first child a lot of things are unknown and in terms of this movie, the character of Emma, she has a very unreliable partner so she’s just sort of trying to figure all that out.

About that time Chris showed up, and he shared with us how he gained weight for his role in this movie.

Well, I really applied all of the principles of losing weight and just reversed them. My wife was in the last third of her pregnancy and so a good 20 pounds of that was probably just sympathy weight and gaining weight alongside her as we indulged in things that we don’t normally eat.

He liked the chance to gain weight without the guilt!  In the movie his size adds to the humor, and helps make his character real and funny.

Both really enjoyed working with Vince. They said he was very real, considerate and charming, which made the filming fun.

We asked what their favorite part of the movie was. Cobie said,

For me, I was really moved the way that Vince’s character, David, chose to reconnect, not even reconnect, to connect for the first time with his children that were his biologically. I really loved the way that Ken wrote these scenes and also the way that it all sort of played out.

Chris liked the way the movie took its outlandish premise and made it dramatic instead of silly.

It goes back to this execution of this idea cause it could be a pretty broad idea. But instead it went to real places and really the movie about halfway through when he starts his journey on finding out. You’re starting to dealing with these themes and these realities that make it a real examination of humanity versus just like see how silly you could play out the outlandish part of this.
