I have been reviewing products from Tropical Traditions for a while now, and the latest is Coconut Cream Concentrate. This is not a product I’ve used before, so I was curious to see how Coconut Cream Concentrate tasted. So when it first came I tried a spoonful right out of the jar, and it had a great, creamy coconut taste. I guess some people just spread it right on bread or crackers. It is pure coconut, and is made from certified organic whole coconut meat in concentrated form. It contains no additives (not even water). The dried coconut meat is ground into a very fine powder, giving it a creamy consistency due to its high fat content.
I was surprised by all the recipes that are available for the coconut cream. I had assumed it was just used in baked goods, but it is actually great in main dishes. It can be added to soups to add a creamy flavor, and used in Thai inspired curries. The Tropical Traditions website includes a whole page of recipes using the coconut cream. Since it was cold and rainy I decided to start with a simple Hot Chocolate recipe:
- 2 teaspoons coconut cream concentrate
- 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
- pinch nutmeg
- 1/4 teasoon vanilla extract
- dash of salt
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- milk or cream to taste (optional)
- 12 oz boiling water
- Put all ingredients except the water into a 12 oz cup. Add water last and stir.

The hot chocolate had a great coconut flavor. I think next time I’ll just stir a spoonful into store bought hot cocoa though, to make things even easier. I’m excited to try some more recipes, and some of them are perfect for the upcoming holidays, like Coconut Cream Sweet Potato Bake Recipe.
The giveaway has ended, but you can still visit Tropical Traditions to get some Coconut Cream Concentrate.
