Proper dental care is very important, and for my family it is a priority to visit the dentist every 6 months. My husband is unusually prone to tartar build up, so he actually goes every 4 months for cleanings. A little money spent on preventative care can prevent those big bills for major work. Both my husband and I have had to have root canals and crowns in the past, so we are trying to prevent future problems, both for us and for our kids. So when it comes to products for our teeth we are picky. I’d rather spend a little more for a product I know my family will actually use.
I recently had a chance to go to Walmart to check out their Colgate products and purchase some for my family. You can see a slide show of the entire shopping trip below.
When I was asked to shop for dental products I knew there were a few specific things we needed. We are well stocked with regular toothpaste, but I need sensitive teeth toothpaste. My gums have receded and I have increased sensitivity to cold. Using the toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth helps, and as long as I keep using it I don’t get much pain. I found plenty of choices at the store, and decided on the Colgate Sensitive Whitening toothpaste.
My 15 year old daughter has a very common teenage issue – braces. This makes her dental care more difficult. It is hard for her to keep her teeth clean when there are so many places for food to get stuck. She likes to use Colgate Wisps to get the food out. They have tiny picks on the end and are easy to get in between the brackets. She takes these with her when she is going to be away from home, since they are so portable and convenient.
My 18 year old daughter doesn’t have braces anymore, but she is very picky about her toothbrush. She will only use the Colgate 360 toothbrush. She says it is the only one she has tried that cleans her teeth thoroughly and yet is still gentle. She hates when a toothbrush makes her gums sore.
I don’t usually shop for oral hygiene products at Walmart, and I was pleased to see how good their prices and selection were. They had large value packs of both the Colgate Wisps and the Colgate 360 brushes which made them more affordable. I like to save money, so I will definitely be buying these products there in the future.
The Colgate Building Smiles tour is designed to help combat rising cavity rates and build healthy smiles. This tour has RV vans that visit different WalMart stores around the U.S. where Dental professionals volunteer their time to provide free dental evaluations for children. Most of the remaining stops for the year are in the south, and you can find the entire tour schedule and more information at www.buildingsmilestogether.com.
