🥘Ingredient Notes

For exact amounts needed see the recipe card below

  • Pizza Dough—Store-bought refrigerated pizza dough or homemade dough like this thin pizza crust.
  • Marinara Sauce—This recipe can use any pizza sauce or red pasta sauce.
  • Mozzarella Cheese—Freshly grated cheese will melt best, but pre-shredded cheese will also work.
  • Pepperoni Slices—Or any other toppings you would like.
  • Italian Seasoning—To add some aromatic flavor to the pizza.

🍲What Size Crock Pot Do I Need To Make This Dish?

I prefer using a larger crockpot (about 6 quarts), but smaller ones also work. You can divide your dough in half to make a smaller pizza using a smaller crockpot. Your cook time may decrease if you use a smaller slow cooker and smaller pieces of dough.

🥣How to Make Crock Pot Pizza

  1. Spray the inside of the crockpot with nonstick cooking spray or coat the pot with butter.
  2. Fold the premade pizza dough in half from top to bottom and place it in the slow cooker. Press the dough firmly into the pot and make sure the dough comes up the sides about an inch.
  3. Spread the marinara sauce over the pizza dough and top with the cheese, pepperoni, and other toppings you want.
  4. Cook on high heat until the dough is cooked all the way through.

🍕What Other Toppings Go Well on My Pizza?

The options for your pizza toppings are limitless. Here are some of my favorites.

  • If you want a spicier pizza, add a drizzle of hot honey, some hot peppers, bell peppers, and olives.
  • For a vegetarian pizza, omit the pepperoni and add red onions, spinach, green bell pepper, and mushrooms.
  • Add Italian sausage, green pepper, and onions for a classic deep-dish pizza.
  • Use cheddar cheese or your favorite cheese instead of mozzarella.

🍴Serving Ideas

This pizza is an excellent entree for any dinner and is always a family favorite. You can’t go wrong with serving this pizza by itself, but you can also add a side salad, pasta salad, fruit, or some soup.

💭How to Store

This pizza is best served fresh from the slow cooker. You can store your leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. The best way to heat leftover pizza is to put it in the air fryer for 4-5 minutes.

If you don’t have an air fryer, it is worth buying just to heat up leftover pizza! 🙂 But you can also reheat it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. It just won’t be crispy.

⭐Tips

Be sure to check out the step by step instructions

  • Your pizza should come out of the crockpot easily. Once your pizza is cooked through, it can be removed and sliced.
  • You can whisk together 2 tablespoons of melted butter with a teaspoon of garlic powder and oregano for a more flavorful crust. Spread this butter mixture over the crust before adding any sauce or toppings.

📝FAQ

Why is my pizza dough sticking to the crockpot?

If your pizza is sticking to the pot, you will want to add some extra cooking spray. Ensure you don’t let the pizza sit in the crockpot for too long before starting the slow cooker. This will cause the dough to stick to the pot as well.

Does store-bought or homemade dough work better?

Whether you use homemade pizza dough or store-bought dough, this recipe works the same. Using homemade dough allows you to customize the thickness of the pizza crust more precisely; however, store-bought dough cuts down the preparation time significantly. Either way, the final product will be a delicious pizza.
