I think bathrooms are one of the hardest rooms in the house to decorate! Let’s face it you spend a fair bit of time in the bathroom, but it is not a very exciting room to decorate. There are also a lot of constraints to bathroom decorating, since sinks, toilets and bathtubs can’t be easily moved, so you are forced to deal with what you have.
Earlier this year I repainted my children’s bathroom, so it is lime green and very cute. But the master bathroom in my house is still boring white. The walls are white and all the fixtures are white! I suppose it could be worse, after all it isn’t ugly, just boring. There is one decorative shelf on the wall – which is white of course. It has some nice sea shells, mermaid statues, but they are all white or close to it. Our master bathroom is seriously lacking in color!
Another thing the bathroom lacks is storage. There is no where to store things like towels or extra rolls of toilet paper. We have been storing toilet paper on the floor, and while that is practical it looks awful.
So this winter I want to redecorate the master bath. The bathroom ideas I have are adding color and adding storage. There is some wall space in the room, under the window and I’d like to get a wicker shelf that fits there. I’d also like to paint it a nice, soothing pastel color, probably light blue. I am not trying to make it look like a decorators magazine, but I’d like a little more pizazz in the room. What do you think, do you worry about decorating bathrooms, or do you just concentrate on the main community rooms?
