Father’s Day Home Repairs

We had a great start to our Father’s Day weekend when our laundry tub overflowed and flooded the laundry room.  It looks like the drain in the tub got plugged and the water from the washer ended up all over the floor.  Somehow we didn’t hear this, so by the time we noticed the water had seeped under the floor, dripped down to the basement, and into my daughter’s room which is right next to the laundry.  So at 10:30 Friday night we were trying to dry the floor with fans and hair dryers.  Despite our best efforts the parquet floor buckled and we lost a bunch of tiles.

I guess we will have to figure out if we can re-glue the tiles, although some of them are broken.  Then today our side garage door and front screen door both pulled out of their hinges.  This is a bizarre coincidence, since both came off their hinges within 15 minutes of each other this morning.  It make me wonder what exactly the kids have been doing to the doors when I’m not around.  So my husband got to spend part of his father’s day fixing doors.  Hopefully we have had our share of unexpected household repairs, at least for the next few weeks!

We did have some fun this weekend though despite the unexpected challenges; we had our boat our for a few hours yesterday, and had a nice barbeque today.
