When it comes to wine my husband and I are not connoisseurs. We drink wine occasionally, but don’t know much about the different kinds, we just know what we like. Wine isn’t something we want to spend a lot on either. Luckily you can buy great-tasting wines at very reasonable prices.
flipflop wines recently sent me some of their varieties to try out. I received a bottle of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gringo and Riesling for my husband and I to try out. I liked the red Pinot Noir best. It is a medium dry wine and had a smooth taste. I usually like white wine best, so I was surprised at how well I liked this red wine.
The other two wines were white wines. The Pinot Grigio is a little sweeter and had a noticeable fruit taste. It has a nice light taste. The Riesling is the sweetest of the wines, and this was the one we liked least, since neither of us is a big fan of sweet wine.
I like the fact that on the back of each bottle they give you a description of the wine and suggest which foods go best with each wine. It is like they are designed for someone like me who doesn’t know much about wine! They tell you whether you should chill the wine before serving, and all the other things that are foreign to me.
They also have Chardonnay, Moscato, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. flipflop wines has received a lot of great press lately. Wine Enthusiast Magazine just awarded 4 flipflop wines a “Best Buy” in the June issue, and flipflop Moscato received a “Double Gold” in The San Francisco International Wine Competition. One of the best things about the wine is the price, a bottle is about $7. They also have partnered with Soles4Souls Inc., the international shoe charity dedicated to providing free footwear to those in need. The program will raise much needed funds to give one pair of flip-flop sandals for each bottle of flipflop wine purchased.
