My family and I love to watch sports. And this time of year there are so many great games to watch, including our favorites, football and college basketball. We make a fire in our wood stove and spend time together away from the cold and snow. So when it is game day we want meals that we can make quickly and enjoy together.
I like to make fancy meals sometimes, but definitely not when it is game time. I have made the mistake in the past of trying to time dinner for half time of a football game, and it is impossible! Simple is the way to go for a Football Party, even if it is just family.
So when I heard that Walmart had DiGiorno Pizza on rollback at Walmart I picked some up for us to enjoy during last Sunday’s games. Right now the Digiorno Rising Crust Pizza is only $4.50, which means I can feed my family of five for less than $10!
I chose Four Cheese Pizza, since my daughters are vegetarian, and Pepperoni Pizza for the rest of us. DiGiorno also has Sausage, Supreme, and Three Meat Pizzas, so there is something for every taste. I wish my family was a little more adventurous about pizza toppings, but they always want to stick with the basic boring ones.
I wanted to add more vegetables to the meal, so I made a veggie tray with blue cheese dip and we had snacks to munch on while the pizza was in the oven.
We had a great time staying warm by the fire and spending time together. Since there weren’t any New York teams playing we didn’t really care who won, which made the games more enjoyable and not stressful! It was a relaxing day of family entertainment.
We will be enjoying pizza with our football again next week, during the big game! What do you like to serve for football games?
