This review was made possible by iConnect and Kalahari. I was provided with an overnight stay to facilitate my review and compensation, but all opinions are 100% mine.
A few weeks ago my family and I had the chance to check out Kalahari Resorts and Conventions in the Poconos. It was a nice, relaxing mid-week stay, that had something for everyone. Kalahari is an African themed resort that lets you have an all-under-one-roof vacation!
We arrived right after lunch, and were able to check in right away to our room, which was very clean and spacious.
The room had everything a family would want, including a good size refrigerator, a microwave and coffee pot. After we got settled in my son, of course, wanted to head down to the waterpark. The waterpark is huge, and at over 100,000 square feet it is the largest in Pennsylvania. We wasted no time in getting very, very wet!
There are a huge variety of water activities. There are multiple water slides, water roller coasters, a Lazy River, and a big splash area with water everywhere. One of the coolest rides was the Tanzanian Twister, which sends you down a big vortex and ends in a (short) free fall. My son did this ride more than any other one, and it is unlike anything we had done before.
One of the activities my son was most looking forward to at Kalahari was the FlowRider, which lets you try bodyboarding or surfing. He did the bodyboarding quite a few times, and eventually figured out how to stay on it. After watching a bunch of people try the stand up surfing and fall spectacularly he decided to stick with bodyboarding!
For more relaxing activities you can play basketball or relax in one of the many hot tubs. I enjoyed a drink at the Thirsty Turtle, a swim up bar inside a hot tub. But our favorite hot tub was the indoor-outdoor one. It was a gorgeous fall day, and it was great to be able to go walk outside and enjoy the weather while still in the hot tub.
Later we headed to one of the full service restaurants, The Ivory Coast, for dinner. There are 3 different full service restaurants, and many more casual ones with pizza and snacks. We had a relaxing meal and wound down after all the excitement of the waterpark.
After dinner we headed to the Family Entertainment center, which is perfect for teenagers! The arcade area 30,000 sq. ft., and has activities like mini-bowling, carcade games, a 5D theater and more. We enjoyed playing Ice Ball and Whac-a-Mole and quite a few other games.
The most fun was the black light mini golf, as there is a 9 hole golf course in the Family Entertainment Center. Everything glowing in the dark while golfing just made the game more exciting!
We had a great stay at Kalahari, and packed quite a few activities into the short visit.
The indoor hot tubs and swim up bar, amazing!
i am excited most about the water parks they have
we love to have more fun in water slides
