Last Day of School

It is finally the last day of school. This is the first year I’ve had a child in school, and this last month has seemed to drag on forever.  I think we must live in the last district in the country to go on summer break!  My two homeschooled children have been doing light schedules for all of June, and have been pretty much done for a while.  But my eighth grade daughter didn’t finish until today.  My two youngest kids made a list of what they want to do this summer.  Here is my 11 year old son’s list:

And here is my 14 year old daughter’s list:

I guess she really, really wants to do #15. On my daughter’s list #13 is go to at least one amusement park, but we have already been to one!  I let her skip school last week to go to a local amusement park with our homeschool group. No, it wasn’t a trip like you’d get if you bought one of those Disney World Packages, but we had lots of fun. We went to Seabreeze Amusement Park, and it was deserted since most area schools were still in session.  All the rides and water slides were walk on, which meant the kids could do as many rides as they wanted.  This is their favorite ride, the Whirlwind rollercoaster, which my youngest two rode 15 times, including 7 times in a row.

We enjoy this amusement park because it is a good size.  It is big enough to be fun, but small enough to do in one day.  Plus they let you bring food into the park and picnic, which helps keep the costs down.  All in all we had a fantastic amusement park trip, and my daughter can cross #13 off her list.

  1. Wow, I can't believe they're just getting out of school. Our schools got out the beginning of June. Those lists are too cute! 🙂
