For an art project this week we made masks. I was doing a brief overview of Africa for my son’s homeschool co-op, so I figured masks worked as an African themed craft. As an added bonus masks are pretty seasonal for Halloween too. Of course any time there is a fun craft project my teenage daughters have to be involved, since they don’t want to miss out. This time they mainly helped by cutting out the masks shapes for all the kids in co-op, which was a huge timesaver for me. They also raided our craft area and found everything that could possibly be glued on a mask for me to bring along. Then they had to make their own masks, so I could take samples. Here are our finished products.
I should add that my 14 year old who made the lion mask followed directions from a craft site to make it, she didn’t come up with the design on her own.
