So far I have experienced few of those changes except for one – headaches. I never had a migraine before I hit 40. Then I started to get them occasionally, usually around the time of my period. They were bad headaches, but bearable with over the counter medication. A few months later I started getting dizzy spells, accompanied by nausea and blurry vision.  After this happened a few times I ended up at the emergency room, and was tested for everything under the sun. I had blood work, EKGs, stress tests and more. It was pretty scary and stressful for everyone in the family.  Finally they decided I was having migraines, but without the headaches. I didn’t even know that was possible!

Now I know that migraines are a common symptom of menopause, because of hormonal changes. I also know that sometimes you can get a “silent migraine” with the visual disturbances and the aura that can accompany a migraine without actually getting a headache.  One thing I have found is that when I am eating healthy and taking vitamins my migraines are few and far between. When I slip up and forget to take care of myself or get enough sleep then the migraines are more frequent.
