🥣How to Make Oreo Mummies

1. Melt the Chocolate

Before you start, line a baking sheet with parchment paper to hold the dipped cookies. Then put the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl.

Microwave it on low for 30 seconds. Stir, and continue to microwave in 15-second intervals until the chocolate is smooth.

2. Dip the Cookies

Use a fork to dip each cookie into the melted white chocolate chips. Fully submerge the Oreo, so the chocolate covers both sides. Then place it on the parchment-lined baking sheets to harden. Work quickly because the chocolate will harden fast.

3. Add Eyeballs

Before the chocolate sets, add two candy eyes to each cookie. The candy eyeballs smear very easily, so make sure your hands are completely dry. Or use tweezers to place the eyes.

4. Add Mummy Bandages

Take the bowl of white chocolate and microwave it for about 15 seconds to remelt the chocolate. Add additional chocolate chips to the bowl if necessary. Then pour the melted chocolate into a piping bag.

Use a #2 round tip to pipe the bandages, or cut the tip off the piping bag. You want the bandages to be fairly thin, so just cut off a tiny bit and test to see how much comes out.

Drizzle lines of chocolate across the cookies. Make the bandages go in different directions, and try not to get the chocolate on the eyes. Once done, refrigerate the mummy treats for 5-10 minutes so the chocolate sets.

🍭Oreo Mummy Pops

You can add lollipop sticks to make these a cookie on a stick. Double-stuff Oreos work best for adding sticks.

  1. Pull a cookie apart.
  2. Dip the end of the sucker stick in melted chocolate and put it in the center of the cookie. Put the cookie back together.
  3. Wait 5 minutes for the chocolate to harden, then proceed with the dipping and decorating.

📦How to Store

These mummy treats should be kept in an airtight container. Make sure they have hardened completely before storing. Use wax paper or parchment paper between the layers, so they don’t stick.

These will keep for about 1 day at room temperature or up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator. They get softer as they age.

Instructions

  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside to hold the cookies.

  • Use a fork to dip an Oreo into the melted chocolate, submerging it completely. Then take it out and lightly tap the fork onto the edge of the bowl to remove the excess chocolate. Put it on the baking tray and repeat until with the rest of the Oreos. Work quickly since the chocolate hardens fast. If the chocolate in the bowl hardens, just put it back in the microwave and heat for 15 seconds.

    1 package candy eyes
  • Microwave the leftover chocolate until smooth, adding more to the bowl if necessary. Then pour the melted chocolate into a disposable piping bag.
  • Use a #2 piping tip, or just snip off the tip of the piping bag. The bandages should be thin, so just cut off a tiny bit and test to see how much chocolate comes out.
  • Hold the piping bag firmly and squeeze drizzles of chocolate over the mummies to make bandages. Go in multiple directions and avoid the eyes.
  • Put the cookies in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes to harden the chocolate.
  • When you remove it from the fridge, pick each cookie up off the parchment paper and snap off the extra white chocolate. These cookies keep for one day at room temperature or up to 2 weeks in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
