Planning Summer Fun

Summer is here and it is time to grab summer fun! With the Fourth of July approaching it makes sense to celebrate, so I planned a little Independence Day/Pool Party party for my family. The first step – buying party supplies of course!

So I headed to the store with my 16 year old daughter, who loves to plan celebrations. The first thing we needed were some more pool toys.  Our rafts did not make it through the winter, but these ones look like fun.

These pool ride-ons come complete with built in water guns, and my kids will love that!  Of course we will have more than two people at the party, so it only seems fair to get some more water pistols, so everyone can get wet.

We pick up a few Fourth of July decorations too, and then we head for the food.  For a simple party like this one we want to make the food easy, and something I know everyone likes.  Pizza sounds like a perfect choice, so we pick up some Tombstone Pizzas.

And of course we need ice cream!

We pick up a few other groceries, including strawberries and blueberries, and then we head for home, because we have a lot to do to get ready.

When I was browsing the web looking for 4th of July party ideas I found a cool red white and blue dipped strawberry. I decide I have to try to make these for our party, because they look fabulous!  So I get out the strawberries, white candy wafers and blue sprinkles, and try to duplicate it.

I melt the wafers, dip the strawberries in the candy coating, and then dip them in the sprinkles.

They actually look like the pictures on the internet. That never happens!

They look so good I have to include another picture!

Now we are almost set, the lawn is mowed, the pool toys are blown up, the squirt guns are filled with water.
