Finally, Shameless Season 2 will premieres tonight on Showtime at 9pm ET/PT! Will you be watching it? I know that Showtime is available free in many markets this weekend, so you might be able to watch even if you aren’t a subscriber. Meanwhile Shameless Season 1 is now available for purchase on DVD and Blu Ray.
At the end of Season 1 the family’s oldest daughter, Fiona, was torn. Her friend Steve wanted her to leave with him and move to Costa Rica, but she felt responsible for taking care of her siblings. Due to the fact that her father is an awful parent she feels that she is all her brothers and sisters have. Fiona had a tough decision, but ultimately decided to stay with the hard yet humorous, family-oriented life. What do you think, did she make the right choice?
While I agree that it would be hard to leave my family I think she should have done it. She passed up a chance both at love and at the kind of normal life she deserves. Also it could be that without the sensible, dependable Fiona around her father would take more responsibility. Ok, maybe not, but surely others would step in to fill the void she left. The other reason I think she should have gone is that she could have always returned if things didn’t work out. A few months away from her dysfunctional family could have done her a world of good.
But the writers didn’t ask my opinion, and she stayed! And I have to admit having her still around will make for a funnier TV show in Season 2. So tune in tonight with me and see what happens next with the craziest family on TV.
