I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Influence Central for Sprint. I received a sample device to facilitate this review.
I have had the chance to review a number of Sprint smartphones over the past year, and the latest is the Sharp AQUOS Crystal. This smartphone is so sleek and elegant looking that it stands out from other phones. It has a 5 inch edge to edge HD screen, and the clear and bright picture is amazing.
Sharp is know world wide for its unique electronics, and with this phone the have broken the mold of traditional smartphone designs. Along with its unique and crisp look the phone has some amazing features. The camera has advanced photo features, like “Night Catch”, which brightens the subject and background for nightime shots. Last weekend we were in New York City, so of course we had to check out the big Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. The phone did a great job of capturing the tree after dark.
Another feature that I like is that it supports Wi-Fi calling. This allows you to use voice and messaging over Wi-Fi networks without using data. I am around Wi-Fi most of the day, so using it for calls and text is a great way to conserve data and save money! The sound quality is just as clear as when using a network. With five phones in our family we need to save as much money on phone plans as possible, and Wi-Fi calling is a great way to do that.
The phone has excellent music quality, since it uses Harman Kardon’s LiveStage with Clari-Fi Technology which adds more dimension to the sound. I like to listen to music on the phone when I exercise, and the high quality music keeps me moving! I also love to hook it up to my car stereo, so I can listen to my music while I drive.
The phone comes with all the Google Mobile services including Google Search, Google Maps, Google Navigation, Google Talk, Google Calendar, Google+ and YouTube. I used the Gmail app all the time, and the Google Maps came in very handy navigating around New York City this weekend.
The edge-to-edge screen makes streaming videos on the phone even more enjoyable, because they are large and crisp.
One neat feature that Sprint offers to customers is App Pass is a subscription service that lets you get access to a hand-selected catalog of premium apps and games for only $4.99 per month. This program lets you use premium apps for one low fee. Sprint offers a 14 day free trial for this useful program. I tried it out and love the range of apps that are available. There are games, media apps, productivity apps and an entire category of Kids Apps.
The AQUOS Crystal smartphone will have the added benefit of running on the Sprint Spark network, which enhances the phone’s LTE service and run super fast. The phone has an Android™ 4.4.2, KitKat operating system and a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. I am enjoying using this phone. It offers premium features, but it is a great value.
