This delicious dish is great on its own or with a side. Pair it with a green salad or a plate of steamed green beans or broccoli for a delicious meal. My family likes to add some Parmesan cheese on top for extra cheesiness.

You can also serve this creamy chicken over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles. One thing is for sure. No matter how you serve this slow cooker chicken recipe, it will surely be a hit among even the pickiest eaters.

💭How to Store Leftover Slow Cooker Chicken

Store your leftover creamy chicken in a shallow airtight container. Your leftovers will last for about 3-4 days in the refrigerator.

Alternatively, you can transfer your leftovers to an airtight container and store them in the freezer. When reheating this dish from frozen, bring it to an internal temperature of 165 Fahrenheit and serve. Leftovers will keep in the freezer for 3 to 4 months.

📝FAQ

What is the difference between chicken breasts and chicken tenderloins?

Chicken breast is the large muscle on the underside of the chicken, while the tenderloin is the more tender, smaller muscle located between and under the breast. There is little difference between the two.

Why do I need to cook my chicken on low?

Cooking your chicken on low keeps the meat juicy and tender, while higher temperatures make the chicken tough and dry. Cooking on low cooks the chicken more evenly, and the chicken retains and cooks in the liquids rather than all the liquids evaporating from the meat.

Should I flip my chicken while it is in the slow cooker?

Generally, you shouldn’t flip the chicken in the slow cooker as it lowers the temperature and steam inside the slow cooker. Throw in the ingredients, slap on the lid, and let the slow cooker do the work.

Can I make this with frozen chicken breasts?

No, you should not put frozen chicken in a slow cooker. Thaw it first before adding it to the crock pot.

  1. Haven’t made this yet but plan to use a substitute for the cream of chicken soup to cut down on salt. Don’t have cream cheese and not sure what to substitute. Lots of snow outside so won’t go to grocery store. Plan to serve it on biscuits or toast.

  2. My family loves this recipe! I make it at least twice a month and they always opt for it over homemade mashed potatoes!
