stamped shortbread cookiesNow that Christmas is getting near it is time to think about making cookies!  My children and I enjoy making lots and lots of holiday cookies this time of year.  We try out new recipes, and share the cookies with friends and family.  Even though there are so many interesting and creative Christmas cookie recipes around we always make the old family favorites too, like shortbread and chocolate chip.  I recently received a set of Cookie Stamps from Stampin’ Up to use to make our basic shortbread and sugar cookies look even more festive!

stamping cookiesThe idea behind cookie stamps is very simple, you simply press the stamps into the cookie dough to create a seasonal design.  For cookie stamps to work you need to be using a recipe that doesn’t rise, because if the dough rises the design will be lost.  So they are perfect for shortbread and sugar cookies.  You can also use them on a recipe like Snickerdoodles that rises, and just stamp the cookies while they are still warm from the oven.

My children and I made shortbread cookies to try out the new stamps.  We mostly used the snowflake stamps since they were the most seasonal, although we made a few of the other ones.  It was fast and easy to make the cookies.  Stampin’ Up also sent us a bunch of products to create hand stamped packaging for giving the cookies as neighbor gifts.  This was very cute, and we enjoyed making “Homemade” gift tags and packaging the cookies in decorated boxes.  I know we will be using this cookie stamp set often, because it is a great way to make great looking cookies quickly.

  1. I like the Beau Chateau 6 x 6 Design Printed Album. I could organize my pictures with this. But, back to the cookie stamps, I would really use these this Christmas when I’m making cookies. All of my nieces and nephews children will be here, and this would be great.
