One of my goals for this summer is to be more active and fit! I recently turned 50, which has made me realized that I need to get healthier now.  Luckily my family supports this goal, and are willing to help keep me motivated. My 16 year old son is trying to build muscle, so we have been lifting weights together most days. My husband and I have been biking or walking in the evening so we both get the exercise that we need. Staying active is one of the best ways to avoid the aches and pains that getting older can bring.
I have also been trying to eat better too of course. My family and I joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program, so we get a huge box of fresh organic veggies every week. I am trying hard to eat all the vegetables we get, even when the box includes things my family is not a huge fan of, like beets. So I am making big salads for lunch and figuring out how to hide Swiss Chard in fritattas or smoothies so that my kids won’t complain. I haven’t figured out how to hide beets yet, they are just too colorful, so right now I am the only one eating those!
I am also improving the beverages that I drink. In the past few years I have been drinking way too much soda, so I am cutting back on soda and making it more of a treat instead drinking it multiple times a day! To substitute I am drinking fruit infused water and tea. I recently received a sample of FitTea 14 Day Detox to review, and it fits right in with my desire for healthier beverages and better hydration habits.
FitTea is an all-natural beverage, that is designed to give you energy, boost your metabolism, aid in digestive health and even boost fat-loss naturally! Those all sound like great results to me, so I was anxious to see FitTea results for myself.
The tea contains all organic ingredients, including Organic Green Tea, Oolong Wu Yi, Organic Rooibos, Ginger, Pomegranate, Guarana, Birch, Stevia, Corn and Honey Powder. These ingredients are designed to provide a fast-working and natural detox. These natural ingredients have other benefits besides detox, which can include weight loss, increased energy levels, suppressing the appetite, and natural antioxidants.
FitTea’s tagline is “Give us a few weeks and we’ll give you a new waistline” – quite catchy!  I have certainly seen the results from the healthy changes I have been making.  I have more energy and am getting more stuff done, even though I have cut way back on my caffeine intake.
A FitTea review usually emphasizes the positive health benefits – but what about the taste?  The taste is amazing – I much prefer it to the Chun Mee Green Tea I had been drinking.  The tea comes in cute little tea bags, and it is very aromatic.  You can smell the ginger and honey right away when you open the bag.  It is easy to make by steeping the tea bag in water for a few minutes, and has a nice sweet flavor.  I usually squeeze a wedge of lemon into the tea to make it even sweeter.  The bag suggests adding honey, but I think the tea is sweet enough as it is. The tea is gentle on my stomach and helps keep me feeling full and satisfied until the next meal.  I have been enjoying a glass every morning after breakfast, to help me relax and get ready for a busy day.
I usually drink my tea hot, but it tastes great over ice too. Sometimes on hot and sultry summer days, a nice cool class of iced tea is much more appealing than a hot drink. So I thought it would be fun to use the FitTea to make not just iced tea, but a Strawberry Iced Tea Smoothie!
The Strawberry Iced Tea Smoothie is simple to make by adding fresh picked strawberries to the tea, and blending it with ice for an icy cold treat. Â You could add almond milk or yogurt it you want to make a smoothie with more of a creamy consistency, but I prefer my smoothies to be mostly fruit. Â It is a great way to add extra fruit to your diet!

- 1/2 cup ice
- 1 cup strawberries
