Summer can be tough on your hair! The combination of sun and humidity can really exact a heavy toll, and keep you from looking your best. My biggest hair challenge in the summer is frizzy hair from all the humidity.
Frizzy hair is usually more of a problem for curly hair, while I have dead straight hair. But even though it is straight, it is not always sleek and smooth, especially not in the summer. Frizziness occurs because the cuticle layer of the dry hair is raised, which allows moisture to come in and swell the strands. To combat this I like to use products with natural oils, like Argan oil, which seal the cuticle to protect it against frizz.
But hair products with Argan oil can be ridiculously expensive, which is why I use the Smooth & Sleek Shampoo and Conditioner from Pantene. I can buy a bottle of Pantene at Walmart for less than $4, and know that I am getting a high quality product that will protect my hair and make it look better. The Pantene Smooth & Sleek conditioner also does a great job of detangling my hair, and leaving it soft and manageable.
Last week we took a short vacation and stayed in a hotel for a few nights, and I didn’t pack my shampoo or conditioner. Â Just a few days of using the hotel products caused a noticeable difference in my hair! My hair was dry and brittle and was driving me crazy! I won’t forget to pack shampoo and conditioner next time we travel.
There are ways to help fight frizz in addition to using the right shampoo and conditioner. Â Here are some simple things I have found help reduce summer frizz:
- Drink lots of water – Frizz is caused by dehydrated hair, and if your hair is dehydrated it might be because you are.
- Don’t brush dry hair – Brushing dry hair disrupts the cuticle, which makes frizziness worse.
- Don’t over heat your hair – Flat irons and blow driers can add too much heat to hair and make it more likely to frizz. If you want to blow dry your hair use a dryer with a diffuser, and try to mostly dry the roots, not the tips of your hair.
Of course you might have different summer hair issues than me, but Pantene makes reasonably priced shampoo and conditioner for all kinds of hair. They have specially designed products for curly hair, long hair, colored hair, damaged hair and more, so you can find the one that will make your hair look and feel the best.
