Almost two weeks ago I posted asking for help picking a paint color for my first floor bathroom that would work with my pink fixtures. My kids and I picked three colors of paint, painted the walls with Glidden Testers, and let my blog readers vote. It was clear to me pretty quickly that my perfectly reasonable (and safe) beige color choice was not going to win. It was a close vote, but in the end the lime green color my daughter picked won by one vote over the turquoise my son liked. So I decided I would use the lime green, but add in plenty of turquoise also.
II debated over whether to go with a beach or garden theme for the room. I think both would have worked with the colors, but I decided the green just looked more appropriate for a garden. Stencils seemed like the easiest way to get the turquoise color into the room.
So I headed back to Walmart, bought some more tester colors and we started stenciling the walls. The testers worked well as stencil paints. They were the perfect size, and went on smoothly. We got an olive green for grass, another shade of blue to go with the turquoise and even some pink to match the ugly bathroom fixtures.
The room was hard to photograph since it is long and narrow, but here are the results.

I am thrilled with how it turned out! I wanted to minimized the pink fixtures and this certain does that, you are so busy looking at the walls you don’t even notice the fixtures. The kids all love the bathroom, and my son says it is not too girly for him. They think it is fun having snails, frogs and a peacock on the wall. My husband isn’t a big fan of the green color, but it is the kids bathroom anyway. Even he agrees that the stencils helped a lot, since they make the green not so bright and in your face. We had a great time re-decorating and playing around with paint colors. Let me know what you think!
I just love how it turned out! The stencils are just so cute! Great job!
