Pets are an important part of the family, and it is important not to forget them during the holidays. They are always happy to see you and willing to do almost anything in return for a little attention! So this holiday season, don’t forget about your favorite four legged friend when buying gifts. Here are some great gift ideas.
Dog DNA Kit: Who knew that you could get your dog’s DNA tested? Our dog Dodger is a mutt, and the kids constantly argue over what his ancestry is. We know he has some Chow, since his tongue is blue, but after that who knows? We have speculated on German Shepherd, Great Dane, Lab, and who knows what. With this kit we could find out for sure. With just a cheek swab, a DNA lab can give you a breed profile of your furry friend. Results aren’t exact, but you will be given the dominant and recessive breed genes that you dog carries and the behavior traits associated with those breeds. This would be lots of fun, although at $60 it is not in the budget this year.
Breath Fresheners: My dog needs this badly! So this is not only is this a gift for him, but one the whole family will appreciate. This is something you add to your dogs water bowl, and it helps clean their teeth and eliminate bacteria. The last time our dog went to the vet they recommended a professional tooth cleaning, which cost over $300. There is no way we are paying that much to get Dodger’s teeth cleaned, so we are trying this instead!
FroliCat RouseDog Dart: We don’t have one of these for our pets, but it looks awesome! These toys are small towers that plug into the wall and project laser lights for dogs and cats to chase. So your pet gets exercise, and you get the fun of watching them run around trying to catch a little red light! You can get this in versions for either cats or dogs, but I think our cat would enjoy it more.
A New Comfy Bed: Let’s face it, pets spend a lot of time sleeping, and hopefully not on the furniture. So your pets deserves a really comfortable bed for his or her naps. You can even get memory foam dog beds now, which I know our dog would love, since I am constantly kicking him off our memory foam mattress. You can also get beds that look like chaise lounges, which are very cute!
Pet Drinking Fountain: These are very useful, because they keep water recirculating, so that your pet has a constant stream of fresh water at all times. Fresh water will encourage pets to drink more, and hopefully keep them from drinking out of the toilet bowl. Plus they just look cool!
